Gambit Esports swept Team Envy in Sunday’s grand final showdown to claim the title at the VALORANT Champions Tour 2021: Stage 3 Masters in Berlin.
Gambit won 15-13 on Bind, 13-11 on Haven and 13-9 on Split for the 3-0 victory.
With the win, Gambit not only earned the first prize of $225,000 but also clinched their berth into the end-of-year VALORANT Champions 2021 event.
Timofey “Chronicle” Khromov guided the all-Russian Gambit squad with match highs of 73 kills and a plus-28 kills-deaths ratio. Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker of the United States led Team Envy with 57 kills and posted the team’s only positive K-D ratio, a plus-2.
Fifteen teams competed for shares of a $700,000 prize pool. One organization, Bren Esports, was disqualified from the tournament before it began due to issues securing travel visas. Eight teams advanced to this weekend’s single-elimination playoff bracket.
Gambit defeated Vision Strikers 2-1 Friday in the quarterfinals and cruised through a 2-0 sweep of G2 Esports in Saturday’s semis.
Team Envy swept Sentinels and 100 Thieves in the first two rounds of the playoff bracket. Envy won $125,000 and 375 circuit points for second place.
G2 and 100 Thieves received $85,000 and 325 points apiece for third/fourth place.
