Team BDS won the Rocket League Championship Series Fall Split Major, defeating The General NRG 4-1, 4-3, in Sunday’s final.
Team BDS clinched the victory in Game 7 of the second series, a 2-0 victory on Champions Field.
BDS, a team from Switzerland, received a $90,000 first-place prize along with 601 RLCS Circuit Ranking Points. The General NRG, an American esports outfit, won $60,000 and 500 points for second.
The two finalists made their way there earlier in the day when BDS beat SMPR Esports 4-2 and The General NRG toppled FaZe Clan 4-1 in the semifinals.
BDS broke a 2-2 tie against SMPR with a 2-0 win on Wasteland (Night) and a 6-0 jaunt on Neo Tokyo to advance. NRG earned three straight one-goal wins on Mannfield (Night), Forbidden Temple and DFH Stadium en route to beating FaZe Clan.
NRG struck first in the final, scoring the lone goal of the game 12 seconds into overtime for a 1-0 win on Mannfield (Night). But BDS rattled off four straight narrow victories, clinching Series 1 of the final with its 3-2 triumph on Wasteland (Night).
The Swiss side continued by opening Series 2 with wins of 1-0 on Mannfield (Night) and 2-1 on Forbidden Temple. NRG charged back by winning three of the next four games, two of them in overtime. But they could not stop BDS at Champions Field.
NRG won the RLCS North American championship for Season X back in June.
“A new NA/EU rivalry has emerged and @RLEsports is stronger (than) ever,” NRG founder and CEO Andy Miller tweeted.
