Top four keep winning, keep positions in LCS Summer Split

100 Thieves, TSM, Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses each won Sunday, strengthening each squad’s position at the top of the League Championship Series Summer Split standings.

Thanks to the strong play of Can “Closer” Celik, who put up an 11-1-5 kills-deaths-assists ratio, 100 Thieves (27-12) dumped FlyQuest (13-26) in 35 minutes while playing on blue. Felix “Abbedagge” Braun added a 6-3-7 K-D-A for 100 Thieves.

That was the first-place squad’s second straight win after a surprising loss to Dignitas (19-20) on Friday.

Second-place TSM (26-13) also won its second straight after a Friday upset, winning in 33 minutes on red against Team Liquid (23-16).

To round out the top four, Cloud9 (24-15) defeated Golden Guardians (12-27) in 27 minutes in blue, while Evil Geniuses (24-15) dispatched Dignitas in a quick 24 minutes, also on blue.

In the first match of the day, Immortals (17-22), playing on blue, topped Counter Logic Gaming (10-29) in 42 minutes. The top performers in that match were David “Insanity” Challe for Immortals, who scored a 3-0-3 K-D-A and Jason “WildTurtle” Tran for CLG, who had a 3-0-2.

TSM was paced by multiple standouts, including Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon and Mingyi “Spica” Lu, who each posted sparkling 5-1-5 K-D-A.

Evil Geniuses standout Jeong “Impact” Eon-young rolled up a sterling 6-2-12 K-D-A. Dignitas was paced by Aaron “FakeGod” Lee, who put up a 5-4-5 K-D-A.

Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami put up massive stats for Cloud9 with a 10-1-7 K-D-A.

The top 10 North American League of Legends teams are competing in the League Championship Series (LCS) Summer Split. After a triple round robin of best-of-one matches, the top eight clubs will qualify for the LCS Championship, scheduled for Aug. 7-29. The final rounds will be played in Newark, N.J.

The top two teams will start in Round 2 of the Championship’s upper bracket. Third through sixth will start in Round 1 of the upper bracket, and seventh and eighth will start in Round 1 of the lower bracket.

The teams will be back in action for Week 8 of the Summer Split on Friday with five matches:

FlyQuest vs. Team Liquid
Golden Guardians vs. Counter Logic Gaming
Immortals vs. Dignitas
