Immortals swept – and eliminated – Dignitas on Thursday in the first round of the League Championship Series 2021 Championship.
Immortals advance to Round 2 of the losers bracket. Dignitas was eliminated after losing to Evil Geniuses in the first round of the upper bracket.
Immortals opened with a win in 27 minutes on red, took the second map in 24 minutes on red before clinching in 34 minutes on blue.
Quin “Raes” Korebrits of New Zealand led Immortals with a kills-deaths-assists ratio of 17-4-19 over the three maps. Australian Mitchell “Destiny” Shaw pitched in with a K-D-A of 1-4-37 for Immortals.
The championship brackets run through Aug. 29, with the final rounds held at Los Angeles’ LCS Arena.
The top eight clubs from the Summer Split advanced, and all matches are best of five. The two matches contested Saturday and Sunday featured the teams that finished third through sixth, vying for the right to oppose the top two teams in the second round.
The next losers bracket matchup will be Golden Guardians against Cloud9 Friday.
The top teams in the LCS 2021 Championship will qualify for the main draw of the League of Legends World Championship, scheduled to be held later this year in China. The third-place LCS finisher will earn a spot in the World Championship’s play-in event.
