Hanwha Life Esports announces Morgan’s departure

Top laner Gi-tae “Morgan” Park has chosen to leave Hanwha Life Esports, the club announced Monday.

The South Korean reportedly had one year remaining on his contract, but Hanwha Life announced it had mutually agreed with the player to part ways.

“We terminated the contract with ‘Morgan’ under mutual agreement today, respecting the player’s decision through sufficient communication,” HLE said in a statement posted to social media. “We would like to express our gratitude to him, who has done his best with the team, and will wish him good luck in his future endeavours.”

Morgan joined Hanwha Life in November 2020 after stints in China with Joy Dream, JD Gaming and Team WE.

Morgan follows two other Hanwha Life players out the door. Ji-hun “Chovy” Jung and Hyunk-gyu “Deft” Kim left after their contracts expired.

Morgan played all 17 games for HLE during the 2021 World Championship, where HLE bowed out in the quarterfinals.
