Team Secret made a splash ahead of the start of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021-22 season, signing veterans Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan and Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang.
Known as “The King,” SumaiL, a Pakistan native, will man the mid lane for Secret.
Now 22, SumaiL entered pro play in 2015 with Evil Geniuses and was part of the squad that won The International that year, becoming the youngest world champion in Dota 2 history. He also was the youngest player to earn more than $1 million in esports history, according to Guinness World Records.
He spent the first four-plus years of career with Evil Geniuses, then joined OG for six months in 2020, served as a stand-in for Team Liquid on a brief basis earlier this year, and returned to OG beginning June 15 before departing earlier this month.
Now 31, iceiceice has been active since 2011, spending time with teams that include Vici Gaming, EHOME, Mineski and Fnatic. The Singaporean spent the past season with Evil Geniuses, which finished in ninth-12th place in The International 2021.
The remainder of the team consists of Michal “Nisha” Jankowski of Poland, Clement “Puppey” Ivanov of Estonia and Yazied “YapzOr” Jaradat of Jordan.
Team Secret will open the season in the DreamLeague Season 16 tournament, which begins Nov. 30.
