Natus Vincere sweeps G2 Esports for IEM Cologne title

Natus Vincere rolled to a sweep of G2 Esports in the Grand Final of the $1 million Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI — Cologne on Sunday.

In the first LAN event since IEM Katowice in March 2020, Natus Vincere won 16-11 on Dust II, 16-14 on Mirage and 16-13 on Nuke to take home the $400,000 top prize.

G2 earns $180,000 for the runner up finish.

The Ukraine’s Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev had 75 kills and a plus-26 kills-to-death differential to lead the way for Natus Vincere.

Bosnia’s Nikola “NiKo” Kovac led the way for G2 with 65 kills and a plus-4 kills-to-death differential.

The tournament marked the first competitive CS:GO event played on LAN in roughly 16 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the teams are facing off in person, they are in a studio setting as opposed to an arena with fans.

Natus Vincere also won the 2020 IEM Katowice event.
