In a showdown of two undefeated teams in Group A action, Heroic took down Team Vitality 2-1 Wednesday for sole possession of first place in the group at the ESL Pro League Season 14 event.
Astralis swept Bad News Bears and ENCE did the same to Team Spirit in the other two matches on the schedule.
Heroic opened with a 16-7 triumph on Vertigo, but the second map was much closer, with Vitality winning 16-12 on Nuke. Heroic broke the tie with a 16-13 victory on Inferno.
All five of Heroic’s starters nabbed at least 50 kills, led by Ismail “refrezh” Ali, who had 59. Rasmus “sjuush” Beck added 56 kills and a team-best plus-13 kills-to-deaths differential for the all-Danish side.
Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut of France paced Vitality with 65 kills and a plus-16 differential.
Astralis dominated Bad News Bears 16-4 on Inferno before wrapping up with a 16-13 win on Nuke. Denmark’s Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen led Astralis with 48 kills and a plus-28 K-D differential. Gabe “Spongey” Greiner had 32 kills for BNB.
ENCE grabbed its second straight win by taking Nuke 16-11 and Dust II 16-5 over Team Spirit. Joonas “doto” Forss of Finland and Pawel “dycha” Dycha of Poland each had 45 kills to carry ENCE; doto added a match-best plus-23 K-D differential.
Russia’s Nikolay “mir” Bityukov contributed 37 kills for Spirit.
The champion of the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event will receive $175,000 of the $750,000 prize pool plus 1,300 Pro Tour points.
