G2, Ninjas advance at BLAST Premier: Fall event

Ninjas in Pyjamas and G2 Esports opened Group B action Monday with wins at the BLAST Premier: Fall Groups event.

G2 swept MIBR and Ninjas swept BIG to advance to the Group B upper bracket final. The winners will square off Tuesday.

MIBR and BIG will play in an elimination game Tuesday in Round 1 of the lower bracket.

Twelve teams, broken into three groups, are competing for shares of $150,000 in the event that runs through Sunday. The top two teams from each group advance to the Fall Finals while the bottom two from each group advance to the Fall Showdown. The winner earns $25,000.

All matches are best-of-three in the double-elimination format.

On Monday, G2 won 16-11 on Mirage and 16-7 on Inferno. Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Nikola “NiKo” Kovac led G2 with 52 kills and a plus-26 kills-to-deaths differential. Bruno “shz” Martinelli led the all-Brazilian side with 33 kills.

Ninjas had an even easier time with BIG, winning 16-9 on Dust II and 16-6 on Inferno. Sweden’s Fredrik “REZ” Sterner led NIP with 55 kills and a plus-25 K-D differential. German Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz led BIG with 29 kills.

Group C begins action on Friday. Team Vitality clinched Group A last Saturday.
