FaZe, Flames, Virtus.pro, Heroic start 2-0 at Stockholm

The path to the championship at the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 gained some clarity in the Challengers Stage Tuesday, as FaZe Clan, Copenhagen Flames (CPHF), Virtus.pro (VP) and Heroic emerged as the day’s biggest winners.

Each team finished the day 2-0 and earned a spot in the High Matches in Round 3.

FaZe began its day with a 16-11 win over Spirit on Overpass. They parlayed that victory into another, 16-12 over ENCE on Dust II.

Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken of Canada had a plus-5 kills-to-deaths differential in the first game and a plus-7 against ENCE. Teammate Finn “karrigan” Andersen of Denmark was an impressive plus-10 in the second match.

CPHF crushed Astralis 16-6 on Overpass before advancing to dump BIG 16-11 on Nuke.

Fredrik “roeJ” Jorgensen was the star for the all-Danish Flames, scoring a 24-13 K-D differential vs. Astralis before notching a 30-16 differential against BIG.

VP edged paiN 16-14 on Inferno in its Round 1 matchup. In Round 2, VP dumped the Movistar Riders 16-12 on Vertigo.

Kazakhstan’s Timur “buster” Tulepov tied two other teammates with a plus-7 in a balanced attack against paiN. He then carried his team with a plus-8 in the win over the Riders.

Heroic defeated TYLOO 16-12 on Inferno before advancing to beat MOUZ 16-11 on Nuke.

Denmark’s Martin “stavn” Lund led Heroic with 25 kills and a plus-6 K-D differential in Round 1 before contributing to the win in Round 2 with a plus-5.

In the Round 2 Low Matches, Spirit defeated GOD 16-12 on Nuke, Entropiq blew out Astralis 16-6 on Dust II, RNG edged paiN 16-14 on Nuke and TYLOO got past the Sharks 16-14 on Mirage.

The PGL Major Stockholm 2021 is a CS:GO major championship with a total prize pool of $2 million. The winner also nets 4,000 Blast Premier points and an auto bid to the World Final 2021.

The New Challengers Stage runs Oct. 26-29, with the top eight teams proceeding to The New Legends Stage. The bottom eight teams are eliminated. Elimination and advancement matches are best of three. All other matches are best of one.

The New Legends Stage runs Oct. 30-Nov. 2 and operates the same way. The top eight teams proceeding to The New Champions Stage, which is a single-elimination bracket (best of three) held Nov. 4-7.
